Nestled within the Alumni Court’s cherished green space, adjacent to the Great Court, “Patina” is a restaurant offering indoor and outdoor dining for up to 100 guests, with additional function and meeting facilities. Positioned between the heritage-listed Radon Laboratory, Goddard, and Parnell buildings, the project underwent a full Heritage Approval process to ensure the design respected its historical context.
The new structure activates the courtyard while embracing the gardens and pathways, maintaining key view corridors. Materials such as copper cladding and bronze tones complement the sandstone, harmonizing the building with its surroundings. A glass-enclosed dining area enhances connections to the landscape, blending privacy, solar control, and garden views. This thoughtful design respects the site’s heritage while creating a modern, inviting space for dining and community events.
