Seahaven Resort, Noosa – Adaptive Reuse on Hastings Street
2014 Sunshine Coast Architecture Awards – Regional Commendation (Residential Multiple Housing & Interior Architecture)
Master Builders Sunshine Coast Award – Refurbishment/Renovations over $5M

Located on Noosa Main Beach at the western end of Hastings Street, the redevelopment of Seahaven Resort demonstrates the value of adaptive reuse over demolition in one of Queensland’s most iconic coastal settings. As Brisbane-based architects working across South East Queensland, our approach focused on reconfiguring and revitalising the existing beachfront building rather than rebuilding. The structure was stripped back to its shell and comprehensively replanned, with new services and infrastructure integrated throughout. Reconfigured floorplates increased accommodation capacity and introduced flexible dual-key apartments suited to contemporary resort living.

The intelligent redesign of the beachfront terraces strengthens engagement with Noosa Main Beach while improving privacy and reinforcing the relaxed Noosa coastal vernacular. Newly articulated balconies frame ocean views, and light-filled interiors are achieved through reflective finishes and thoughtful planning that maximises compact spaces. Driven by the broader regeneration of Hastings Street, the project transformed outdated accommodation, restaurant and retail tenancies into a unified, environmentally responsive resort development. A new glazed frontage activates the streetscape, enhancing the pedestrian experience and reinvigorating the western gateway to Hastings Street.

Seahaven Resort stands as a benchmark for Sunshine Coast resort refurbishment and multi-residential architecture, demonstrating how sustainable redevelopment can extend building life while enhancing amenity, performance and commercial value.
