As part of a broader initiative to enhance campus life through expanded food and beverage offerings, this project reimagined the existing refectory into a vibrant 375m² food precinct. The redesign accommodates a range of quick-service vendors alongside diverse dining and lounge options, creating a welcoming hub for the campus community. A key aspect of the design was addressing accessibility challenges. By raising the finished ground level, seamless connections between adjacent buildings were achieved, eliminating the need for complex stairs and ramps. The transformation repurposed an undercroft space, defined by its raked concrete soffit, into a warm, light-filled dining area. The addition of exposed gluelam framing and feature plywood pendant lighting introduces texture and ambiance, casting patterned light that enhances the inviting atmosphere. The result is a thoughtfully designed space that elevates both functionality and experience for the university community.
