DM2 shares a strong connection with Roma, having previously completed The Royal on 99 in the town’s heart. Engaged by the Maranoa Council, DM2 designed an observation tower and treetop walkway for The Big Rig historic park. The tower offers guests the unique experience of scaling to the height of the historic EMSCO Big Rig, with a cantilevered observation platform providing 360-degree views of Roma and its outback surrounds.
The contemporary design pays homage to the EMSCO rig, celebrating steel’s structural efficiency and iconic lacework aesthetic. A triangular frame was chosen for its inherent strength and alignment with the masterplan’s axes, connecting the Big Rig, treetop walkway, and a planned zipline. Modular construction ensures efficient, safe assembly. This iconic structure brings joy and wonder, offering an exhilarating attraction for those adventurous enough to ascend.
