Atmospheric Environment Research Centre

Griffith University

This project supported Griffith University’s cutting-edge research by refurbishing and upgrading two laboratories within the N55 building at the Nathan campus. The Atmospheric Environment Research Centre studies the effects of pollutants using samples from the Southern Ocean and Antarctica, requiring a highly controlled environment.

A key design priority was eliminating PVC-based materials to create a clean, pollutant-free space. Extensive research guided the use of low volatile organic compound (VOC) materials and innovative construction methods. The design features a glass-enclosed laboratory and stainless-steel fume cupboards, minimizing contamination risks during testing. This thoughtful approach ensures the facility meets the exacting standards required for groundbreaking atmospheric
